The dry season, November through April, is good for exploring on foot: warm and mostly rain-free, though always noticeably hot and humid rather than mild. May turns increasingly hot, and June through October bring a heavy, near-daily monsoon concentrated in the afternoon on top of the heat, making walking tours a poor fit.

Only December through March offer cool-enough, mostly dry conditions for comfortable trekking, and even then the heat and humidity are noticeable, never mild. From April the heat climbs past comfortable exertion levels, and June through October add a heavy, humid, afternoon monsoon on top of it, leaving no good months in that stretch.
